Radar Studies of the Moon and Minor Planets
Dr. Jean-Luc Margot
California Institute of Technology
Abstract
Earth-based radar instruments, such as those at Arecibo and Goldstone, are powerful tools for the study of a variety of solar system objects.Radar measurements provide a wealth of information about the composition, internal structure, shapes, spins, and orbits of planetary bodies. The techniques involved in planetary radar observations will be described and illustrated with recent results from lunar and asteroid studies.
