The Sun a Laboratory for Physics and Astrophysics

Dr. Alan Title
Stanford-Lockheed Institute of Research

Abstract

We can now observe the Sun from the deep interior to the interaction with the Earth's magnetosphere. I will review in a short movie the state of the art in observations and theory in solar physics over the domain for about 10-3 to 30 solar radii. After the review, some interesting and initially puzzling magnetic configurations observed with X-ray and EUV coronal imagery will be shown and simple explanations proposed.
