Dr. S. Fred Singer
Science and Environmental Policy Project
Abstract
Brief Biography: The speaker has held a number of academic and governmental positions. He is currently president of the Washington D.C.-based Science & Environmental Policy Project; Professor Emeritus of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia; distinguished research professor, George Mason University; former director of the US Weather Satellite Service. He is co-author and editor of "Global Climate Change"(1989), and the author of the upcoming book "Global Warming: Unfinished Business".
The speaker will review current controversies surrounding the global warming
issue. Among them:
1. Can one account for the discrepancy between satellite and surface
temperature data?
2. Can one detect a climate impact of commercial air traffic?
3. Would global warming cause sea-levels to rise or fall?
4. Is ocean fertilization more cost-effective than the control of CO2
emissions?
